Food. Earth. People.
We work with governments to build greener, more productive spaces in order to spur green jobs growth, and provide ecology education for teenagers and their parents. Join us as we grow a world where every person has access to the fresh food and thriving ecosystems that feed our soils and our communities.
Fruitful Communities.
We dream of a world where every American has as much food as they need within a 5-minute walk from their home. That starts by showing governments how to take a small portion of their landscape maintenance and beautification budgets to build Productive Urban Landscapes (PULs), edible greenspaces that reduce food insecurity, grow green jobs, and become centers of community building and youth education.

Grow, Don't Mow.
Next, we offer free training to existing and new landscapers so they can design, install, and maintain ecological landscapes. We also work with non-profits, community leaders, and corporate sponsors to build as many Productive Urban Landscapes as possible, multiplying the impact throughout the community.
#GreenHive.
Throughout the process of designing, installing, and maintaining Productive Urban Landscapes, we include members of the #GreenHive, our leadership club for eco-conscious teens and their parents. Teens get to design and build their own spaces, develop as leaders, and make lifelong friendships, all while working to stall climate change.

Our mission in action.
We're more than a business; we're a movement. That's why everything we do is focused on growing a larger, more powerful food justice organization from the grass roots up. These are just some of the things we're doing to build a greener future.
Our fund.
Our missions is for every person in the US to be within a 5-minute walk from fresh, nutritious food. We need your help to get there. Sign up for our free newsletter to stay updated on our progress, and consider making a monthly or one-time payment to the Roots Down Fund. 100% goes toward building greener landscapes.

Our work.
Building Productive Urban Landscapes is the foundation of our work. We believe that virtually all urban spaces can be redesigned to incorporate edible landscaping and pollinator habitats. Check out a gallery of our past projects and case studies to see how PUL's could transform your community.

Our giving.
To ensure we're spreading abundance throughout our network, we give a minimum of 10% of our proceeds every month to organizations in our network. You can feel good about supporting Roots Down because you know your dollars are going to building parks, pollinator meadows, supporting urban farmers and more!
